When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.” – Socrates

Psychology professor, Jordan Peterson at the University of Toronto is under fire for his ‘controversial’ stance on Political Correctness. The reason why ‘controversial’ is in quotes is because if one deviates from the norm in a Liberal city – in this case, political correctness – it is seen as controversial. For more background information about on the disasters of political correctness, please read my first article on the subject titled “Political Correctness Gone Wild.” ( Furthermore, he is also a victim of slander by social justice warriors as a result of his beliefs. If politically correct social justice warriors exercising bigotry against Professor Peterson is not enough, their slander of his reasonable beliefs are just flat out immature.

What is Bill C-16?

On 17 May 2016, Justin Trudeau of the Liberal Government of Canada introduced Bill C-16 into Parliament.

Bill C-16 would amend the Canadian Human Rights Act in order to “add gender identity and gender expression to the list of prohibited grounds of discrimination.” This bill would also amend the Criminal Code which would “extend the protection against hate propaganda set out in that Act to any section of the public that is distinguished by gender identity or expression and to clearly set out that evidence that an offence was motivated by bias, prejudice or hate based on gender identity or expression constitutes an aggravating circumstance that a court must take into consideration when it imposes a sentence.”

In other words, Bill C-16 would make it illegal to deny accommodation, deny services, employment, and similar benefits based on their gender identity or expression. Furthermore, this bill – with the exception of section 718.2 – would work perfectly with Section 15 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (below).

What does section 718.2 entail? Section 718.2 of Bill C-16 would make using the wrong and/or refusing to use non-binary gender pronouns labelled a hate crime and will be thus a criminal offence. In other words, using your freedom of speech – even if you respect the reasonable limits clause – can get you arrested.

What are non-binary gender identities?

According to the Oxford Dictionary, non-binary is “denoting or relating to a gender or sexual identity that is not defined in terms of traditional binary oppositions such as male and female or homosexual and heterosexual.” In other words, a non-binary gender or sexuality that does not just involve the two traditional genders and/or sexualities.

There are many non-binary gender identities such as genderqueer, intergender, neutrois, transgender, etc. Each of the four that mentioned above can be briefly defined as:

Term Definition
Genderqueer A person who does not follow conventional gender distinctions but rather identifies with both, a combination of male and female genders, or neither of the two.
Intergender A gender identity that is a mix of both of the male and female genders.
Neutrois A gender identity that is considered to be a neutral gender.
Transgender People whose gender expression or gender identity that differs from their biological sex.

Why is Professor Jordan Peterson under fire?

Since Toronto is a fairly Liberal city, and the University of Toronto if a very Liberal university, the University of Toronto encourages its staff and its students to recognize any and every possible gender identity imaginable. However, Professor Peterson has chosen to invoke his second charter right (which section 718.2 of Bill C-16 violates):

There is an ongoing debate between those who believe that non-binary identities exist and those who believe that only binary genders exist. In either case, section 2 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms allows its citizens to have the freedom of speech, opinion, thought, religion…you name it. But Trudeau’s authoritarian regime is flat out saying that not only do non-binary identities exist but if you disagree, you will be arrested.

Professor Jordan Peterson invoked his second charter right in saying that in terms of the whether or not non-binary identities truly exist, “I don’t think that that’s a valid idea. I don’t think [that] there’s any evidence for it.” Furthermore, when asked if a person who identifies as a non-binary identity preferred to refer to them as ‘they,’ ‘them,’ etc. Professor Peterson said that he would stick by his gender binary belief system and only refer to students – aside from their names – as ‘him’ or ‘her.’ With that being said, Professor Peterson does believe in equality does not believe in discrimination. According to the Charter, that is perfectly normal and justifiable right?

Social Justice Slander

On 27 September 2016, Professor Peterson uploaded a lecture video titled, “Professor against political correctness: Part 1: Fear and the Law.” This video explains why he does not believe in political correctness (

Unfortunately, politically correct social justice warriors like to try and lead an authoritarian/totalitarian way of life and propose that if you have a differing belief, you must be silenced. Much like in an earlier article, “Logic VS Social Justice Warriors,” if you outsmart a social justice warrior, they can retaliate with slander (

On 28 September 2016, Tom Yun of The Varsity wrote an article titled, “U of T psychology prof decries ‘political correctness’ in YouTube lecture.” ( Yun slanders Professor Peterson by claiming that he “criticizes legislation [Bill C-16] that would prohibit harassment based on gender identity, gender expression.” Let us rewind. Professor Peterson said that he did not believe that there were more than two genders. However, he did not say that there should not be legislation to prohibit harassment. Hence Yun does not tell the whole story – that Professor Peterson agrees with everything BUT section 718.2.

Yun wrote his article falsely proclaiming that Professor Peterson is completely against the bill altogether when that is far from the truth. This is a classic example of a fraudulent display of facts attempting to distort what was really said in Professor Peterson’s video. A more accurate and honest line would have been, “Professor Peterson defends free speech” or “Professor Peterson criticizes section 718.2 of Bill C-16 for its unconstitutionality.” The only way that Yun would have been in the right of using his line was if he specified later in the article that section 718.2 was Professor Peterson’s  reason for disagreeing with the bill but that…was…nowhere…to…be…found. This further proves that Yun refused to tell the truth in the name of the radical left-wing ideology.

According to the twenty U of T students that I had the privilege of interviewing over the last few days, sixteen of them were disgusted by his article and its deliberate slander. Eight of them requested to have their thoughts published anonymously:

Student Comment
Anonymous #1 “The writer is a gutless and manipulative bully who legit took full advantage of his school newspaper just to spread false information about my prof.”
Anonymous #2 “I bet this guy [Yun] didn’t even properly watch the prof’s video. The prof was talking about freedom of speech not that anyone should be discriminated!”
Anonymous #3 “I’m surprised that The Varsity allowed the guy to publish that article. What do you expect from an ignorant, uninformed student body? That’s when you know that we’re a Liberal university.”
Anonymous #4 “I love how Yun took everything out of context just to try to get a reaction out of the Liberals.”
Anonymous #5 “Isn’t slander illegal? I guess not. That’s probably why so many Liberals idolize Hillary Clinton.”
Anonymous #6 “Doesn’t The Varsity have smarter writers on campus?”
Anonymous #7 “I hate it [the article]! The Liberals are trying to take away our freedom of speech!”
Anonymous #8 “Liberal media at its finest.”

Secondly, in a debate that I had earlier in the week against a fellow politically correct social justice warrior at UTSC (University of Toronto – Scarborough Campus) she exclaimed:

“The biggest problem here is that he is a professor at an institution of learning spreading hate speech toward members of the LGBTQ simply by NOT acknowledging a person pronouns or respecting the way [that] THEY choose to identify THEMselves.”

Hate speech? When did Professor Peterson ever spread hate speech? According to the dictionary, hate speech is “speech that attacks, threatens, or insults a person or group on the basis of national origin, ethnicity, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability.” Peterson expressing his freedom of speech, belief, and opinion on there being binary genders is not an attack on one’s gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation. An attack would be more along the lines of making a threat/coerce members of non-binary identities. Furthermore, if one attends a university, then the reasonable conclusion for that is to learn. But if one refuses to learn because the professor is using words and has beliefs that the politically correct social justice warrior refuses to hear, then they are in the wrong place and might as well hide in their imaginary safe space for the rest of their life.

Politically correct social justice warriors like the Trudeau government love to exclaim that they are 100% against bigotry (intolerance of one’s beliefs). But isn’t judging and showing intolerance to people like Professor Peterson over their beliefs bigotry? Hypocrisy runs deep in politically correct social justice warriors’ veins.

Last thoughts

Hopefully students and other individuals will watch Professor Jordan Peterson’s video in its entirety in order to acquire his real intentions and beliefs rather than reading a fraudulent article that attempts to do nothing but slander an innocent and law-abiding citizen. Furthermore, Professor Peterson will be uploading parts 2 and 3 of “Professor against political correctness” very soon.
