Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder (TARD) is a pattern of pathologically dissociative and psychotic behavior, first observed in the late hours of November 8th 2016, and increasing in severity with passing time. Sufferers of TARD are frequently found in the LGBT community. If left untreated, it can result in blocking people on social media, a persistent need for a safe space and echo chamber, and at worse may cause the TARD sufferer to engage in the destruction of private and public property..
Signs and Symptoms:
A diagnosis of TARD is generally easy to make, and most individuals are immediately recognized. Symptoms must include 3 of the following criteria:

— Signs of paranoia and delusion, typically manifest in the idea that Nazis are coming to put them on trains and take them away to gas chambers, along with some general fixation on their ID; they have a belief they must change their ID before it’s “too late”.
— Emotional disturbance: sudden bouts of rage, uncontrollable crying, suicidal ideation, often associated with “literally shaking”, or related statements: “I’m literally shaking right now”.
— Insistence that they are going to move to Canada, with no actual plan for doing so (they do not purchase airline tickets, do not pack their belongings, do not get a passport, etc)
— Signs of thought disorder, disorganized or illogical thinking; sufferers may blame “white America”, even when the sufferer is white. May believe they are living in “textbook fascism”, with no understanding of what that word actually means when asked (despite “textbook” indicating that they would otherwise have a highly articulated and precise definition, just as you would find in a textbook). Basic logic is affected by TARD; a sufferer will say “it doesn’t mean ONLY Black Lives Matter”, then deny that All Lives Matter because only Black Lives Matter.
Similar to Special Snowflake Disorder, LGBT individuals exhibit a desperate need for attention, more so than usual. This need for attention increases inversely to the amount of attention generally received. This condition is exasperated by how often a person with TARD will end up blocking people on social media, especially close friends who cared about them, reducing the amount of personal attention they would otherwise have.
While there is no known cure for TARD, research has shown that individuals who practice basic adult life skills, live on their own, are employed, and take responsibility for themselves, are far less likely to be affected. TARD is more likely to affect individuals who live with their parents, are unemployed, believe capitalism is evil and that America elected a racist.
If someone you know is affected with TARD, attempts at rational discussion only worsens symptoms. Sufferers will begin screaming absurdities: racist, sexist, white supremacist, misogynist, etc. The best action is to disengage and avoid the sufferer until symptoms eventually subside on their own.
